Waitaki Wine Doctors see double

Drs John Forrest of Forrest Wines and Jim Jerram of Ostler Wines are today celebrating double successes with gold medals for their 2010 Waitaki Valley Pinot Noirs. NZ fine dining salmon wins global award

New Zealand’s Ôra King salmon has been judged as ‘remarkable’ at the iTQi Superior Taste Awards in Belgium. The brand has been developed specifically for fine dining by Nelson-based New Zealand King Salmon and was launched only last year. The New Zealand Nutrition Foundation is encouraging Kiwi school students to take up the challenge and get creative in the kitchen with the Just Cook Create a Family Meal Challenge. The shining stars of Auckland’s hospitality scene have been revealed. Four finalists in each of 16 categories are vying for votes in the lead up to the 11th annual Lewisham Awards on Sunday 2 June. Riddet Institute co-director Harjinder Singh becomes Distinguished Professor

Food scientist Harjinder Singh has been awarded the title of Distinguished Professor by Massey University. The award is the highest academic title the University offers and is normally bestowed on up to 15 professors who have achieved "outstanding international eminence in their fields". Moa long-jumps the field to take Gold at the Helsinki Beer Awards

Yvette Corlett (nee Williams) long jumped to Olympic gold there back in 1952 and now Marlborough brewer Moa has leaped to glory of its own with its Methode Pilsner.
