Kiwi cat owners among world’s most generous - research

Kiwi cats are some of the world’s most spoilt according to new research, which shows two thirds (66%) of NZ cat owners buy their feline friends, weekly treats, birthday, Christmas and even Easter gifts. The Temptations study investigated the habits of Kiwi cat owners and their attitude towards gifting presents to their pets. Schoolkids win Christmas coffee cup designs for Kidscan

The Coffee Club New Zealand and KidsCan have launched three new Christmas coffee cup designs and two napkin designs, all created by school children who won a nationwide Christmas Cup Art Competition. The Coffee Club also introduced a “highly commended” award this year with six students recognised for their creativity. Demand for Kidscan Food in-School programme doubles in five years

In 2005 when KidsCan started it was providing food and clothing items to 40 low decile schools, this year it’s helping 675 schools. KidsCan CEO Julie Chapman says the charity now feeds nearly 30,000 children a week in 16 regions across New Zealand, which works out (on average) to 21 percent of the KidsCan schools’ roll.
