Food prices up 0.4 percent in May; 0.8 percent up from last year

In May 2015, food prices rose 0.4 percent, Statistics New Zealand said today. This follows a 0.3 percent fall in April and a 0.1 percent rise in March. “Higher food prices in May were influenced by seasonally higher prices for fresh vegetables,” prices manager Chris Pike said. Cheese launched in remembrance of forefathers service in WW1

Oamaru-based artisan cheesemaker Whitestone Cheese has launched a limited edition, commemorative cheese to honor the centenary of the First World War, and the company’s forefathers. A New Zealand War Story Brothers Norman and George Berry (pictured above) were North Otago shepherds who on 19th October 1916, volunteered for the Otago Regiment at the Oamaru Army Drill Hall.
