Tomatoes and nectarines were also cheaper, but avocado prices remain almost twice as expensive as they were a year ago. After four successive monthly rises, butter prices dropped 4.9 percent in December 2017 to an average of $5.46 for the cheapest available 500g block. Synlait partners with Foodstuffs South Island to supply fresh milk and cream
Date: 20 Dec 2017Synlait Milk says it will enter the fresh milk market in early 2019 by partnering with Foodstuffs South Island and will invest about $125 million in a liquid dairy packaging plant. The Dunsandel-based company will become Foodstuffs South Island's exclusive supplier of its private label fresh milk and cream under the supply agreement, it said in a statement. Lion is struggling to meet demand for beer in hot weather
Date: 14 Dec 2017Kiwis are drinking so much beer this summer that brewing giant Lion is unable to keep up with demand. Lion New Zealand spokeswoman Genevieve O'Halloran said sales were up nearly 20 per cent compared to a year ago, which was creating supply issues for North Island customers. Pumpkin and kumara prices at record level
Date: 13 Dec 2017Pumpkin prices increased 176 percent in the year to November 2017, to reach $5.78 a kilo, the highest price since the food price series began in December 1993, Stats NZ said today. Date: 20 Nov 2017Rising dairy prices have pushed food prices up 2.7 percent in the year to October 2017, Stats NZ said today. This followed a 3.0 percent increase in the year to September 2017. Butter prices led the way again – up 62 percent from the same time last year.
