Dairy prices drop again

The ink is barely dry on Fonterra's latest farmgate milk price forecast and it is already under downward pressure after dairy prices fell for the third time in a row at this morning's GlobalDairyTrade auction, the GDT price index dropping by 7.4 per cent since the last sale in mid-January. Whole milk powder prices - which are key to determining Fonterra's farmgate milk price, fell by 10.4 per cent to US$1,952 a tonne and their lowest point since last August's price slump. Fonterra cuts Forecast Milk Price

Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited today reduced its forecast Farmgate Milk Price for the 2015/16 season from $4.60 per kgMS to $4.15 per kgMS. When combined with the earnings per share range of 45-55 cents, this means a total available for payout of $4.60-$4.70 per kgMS and would currently equate to a forecast Cash Payout of $4.50-$4.55 per kgMS to our farmers after retentions. New Zealand wine exports reach record $1.5 billion high

New Zealand wine exports have reached a new record high of $1.54 billion for the 2015 year, up 14% on 2014 according to New Zealand Winegrowers. ‘The new record level of wine exports is an outstanding achievement for New Zealand wine exporters and testifies to the strong global demand for our wines,’ said Philip Gregan, CEO of New Zealand Winegrowers.
